Wolf Dragon 2
I think I started sculpting this in around late Spring 2020, and eventually completed it in early Spring of 2021. I made far too many mistakes with the first version of this, which I made in 2016, it also got destroyed. So I started again! This is my second sculpture. I spent roughly 9 months in total working on it. With every sculpture I make, I like to present myself with new challenges. I do this deliberately, in an attempt to learn something new each time. Designing this on paper wasn't easy. After countless sketches, I managed to get the look I was after. But I never did find a way of how I was going to pose it! In the end, I went with a coil-shaped pose, which was simple enough. But not so simple to create as a sculpture. I wanted to give it some sense of swirling movement. Swirling clouds and wisps of mist as well. I love those beautiful illustrations and sculptures I've seen in Chinese restaurants. I've always been so amazed. I love Dragons so much. I don't have a favourite type. The Eastern Dragons are so different in appearance and love their dynamics. How they swim in the skies. I really wanted to achieve their dynamic nature in this sculpture. In this piece, it sits yet i want to see it moving as well. I hope I managed to achieve this.
